The current manufacturing model for small satellites relies on distributed supply chains, multi-material assemblies, and sequential production steps, each adding cost, complexity and potential points of failure. Oniro S.r.l.’s Foam Additive Manufacturing (FAM) platform enables a new integrated production approach by combining structural fabrication and electronic embedding into a single automated process. By enabling the creation of composite structural components with localized material properties and the potential to embed PCB-based electronics directly within the build, Oniro's approach has the potential to reduce payload and part count, simplify assembly and cut production costs. This innovation offers a path toward scalable, cost-efficient, and robust manufacturing of small satellites.
